|Biography|| Tom Loepp born
June 4, 1954 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, grew up in Wyoming,
Texas, Iowa and Oklahoma. Having decided to be an artist at an early
age he moved to New
York City to further study art. Plein-air painting of
the city became one of his passions alongside his
enjoyment of painting people.
One of his paintings of the Brooklyn Bridge was included in the 1983 Centennial Exhibition for the Bridge at the Brooklyn Museum. This painting was purchased by White and Case Law Offices. Another painting, "17th and 10th Avenue" was included in a show at the Museum of the City of New York. The museum bought that painting for their collection.
During his career as a portrait-artist, Tom Loepp was commissioned to paint Chief Justice William Rehnquist for the United States Supreme Court.
In 1988 during the renovation of the Brooklyn Bridge, he arranged on a whim to paint from the top of the Bridge for a month. He painted the workers and views of the Bridge and the surrounding city. From there he received a commission from McCarter and English Law Offices of Newark to paint three large panoramas, one was a view of Jersey City in the winter snow as seen from the roof of the World Trade Center. He spent two years painting on top of the World Trade Center.
He now resides in Wyoming. When he is not traveling for portraits, he spends his time in his favorite studio, the great outdoors of the imagination, Wyoming, Hawaii or wherever inspirations take him.
